During the war, about 500 women miners started working in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the invasion, the domestic labor market has changed, so some gender, age and other restrictions on access to certain professions have been removed.

During the full-scale war in Ukraine, about 500 women began working in the mines, filling the shortage of men in the field. Their training was carried out by the educational platform “DTEK Academy”, said Tetyana Sherman, head of marketing and communications of the institution, in comments for Delo.ua.

According to her, the war changed the labor market of Ukraine, which led to the removal of some gender, age and other restrictions on access to certain professions.

“One of our cases is the mastering of traditionally male professions by women. Previously, they were forbidden to work in mines, but in the conditions of the war, they began to master this profession as well. Currently, about 500 women trained by the DTEK Academy work in Ukrainian mines,” explained Sherman.

Since its opening in 2010, “DTEK Academy” has trained about 300,000 employees, both for the DTEK holding and for third-party specialists commissioned by other businesses. More than 40,000 workers, including foreigners from the post-Soviet space: Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, are trained annually.

Educational projects vary from long-term programs for top managers to several-week courses for ordinary specialists. The duration and conditions of training may change depending on the request of the company that sends its specialists for training. The cost of training varies: from 5-10 thousand UAH for courses developed by the academy to 100-200 thousand UAH for programs developed with the involvement of Western universities.

Sherman added that every DTEK employee undergoes training at the academy. Every year, each work team creates a development plan, according to which the educational institution develops and conducts appropriate professional development programs.
