End the war “as soon as possible”: the head of the Pentagon outlined the goals of “Ramstein”

The United States has determined the main message for the upcoming Rammstein-style summit in Brussels – the fastest possible end to the war in Ukraine. This was stated by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, informs Pentagon website.

The Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (UDCG) will meet on February 12, and for the first time the role of the host of the summit will be performed by Great Britain instead of the USA. It will also be the group’s first meeting since Donald Trump took office as US president. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will attend the UDCG summit as part of his visit to Germany, Belgium and Poland.

“The Defense Minister aims to reaffirm President Trump’s commitment to the earliest possible diplomatic end to the war in Ukraine,” – said in the statement of the Pentagon.

We will remind that the UDCG includes more than 50 countries, including all 32 NATO members. The coalition was created in April 2022 to coordinate international military assistance to Ukraine.

The transition of the administration in Washington and the expected changes in the US policy towards Ukraine create uncertainty regarding the future of summits in this format. Trump announced his intention to strengthen the role of Europe in the defense of Ukraine, and some functions of “Ramstein” have already been transferred to the control of NATO.
