The Verkhovna Rada unblocked the law on ARMA reform
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine did not support the draft resolution, which for a month blocked the signing of the law on the reform of the Agency for Search and Asset Management. About this reported the head of ARMA Olena Duma.
“Parliament did not support the blocking resolution. National interests above all”, the message says.
Olena Duma reminded that on June 18, the Council adopted the ARMA reform in the second reading. This law strengthens the agency’s capabilities, opens the way to the management of corporate rights of Russian and Belarusian assets, and allows the transfer of seized property to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“But after that, a separate political force blocked the signing of the law – for almost a month. It blocked the possibility of helping the military and managing the assets of the Russian Federation. Today, this page is closed.” Duma noted.
She also noted that the agency had been waiting for this decision for two years and had been fighting for the adoption of the relevant draft law for more than five months. Now, according to her, it is time to implement the reform.
We will remind you that on June 18, the Verkhovna Rada in the second reading and as a whole supported draft law No. 12374-d, which concerns the reform of the National Agency for Identification, Search and Management of Assets Obtained as a Result of Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA). The document provides updated requirements for the head of the agency, a selection procedure with the participation of international experts, a transparent asset management system, as well as control mechanisms for their transfer.
