Farmers in the Kherson region harvested the first 500 tons of watermelons

In the Kherson region, farmers harvested the first 500 tons of watermelons, and also ground more than 46,000 tons of grain and leguminous crops, almost 5,000 tons of rapeseed, and about 2,000 tons of vegetables. About this reported in the press service of the Kherson regional military administration.
“Currently, harvesting is actively underway in the region: more than 46,000 tons of grain and leguminous crops, almost 5,000 tons of rapeseed have already been threshed, and about 2,000 tons of vegetables and the first 500 tons of watermelons have been harvested.” – the message says.
For the harvest of 2025, farmers of the region sowed almost 220,000 hectares. At the same time, spring frosts and drought led to the loss or damage of crops on an area of more than 50,000 hectares.
“Already 300 farms have applied to record losses. Commissions have been created to assess the situation. We have also appealed to the Ministry of Agriculture and international partners about the need to take urgent measures to support our farmers.” Dmytro Butrii, the first deputy head of Kherson OVA, noted.
We will remind that currently almost 78% of the territory of the Kherson region remains occupied. In 2025, in addition to war threats, farmers faced challenges due to adverse weather conditions. Because of this, crop losses in the de-occupied territories reached a billion hryvnias.
