Fico criticized a schoolboy with Ukrainian symbols who did not shake hands with the president

Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico expressed his position on the recent incident, during which the Slovak schoolboy Simon Omanik, attaching a ribbon in the colors of the Ukrainian flag to his jacket, refused to shake the hand of the President of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini.
Fico noted that if he had been president, he would have reacted differently. The prime minister said that he would not be able to remain indifferent, as Pellegrini did.
“First, I’d ask him if he had a nursery. Second, what his parents taught him. Third, I’d take his award and send him to where he belongs, in front of everyone media. And, finally, I would like to thank the Minister of Education for his cooperation.” – he emphasized.
The prime minister criticized Pellegrini’s words that he respects the schoolboy’s choice, and said that there is nothing to respect in this situation. He was also outraged by the reaction of the media, which, according to him, supported the young man’s actions, calling them an act of courage.
“The Soros media is dismantling the state live. Anyone, regardless of whether he has achieved something, is good if he humiliates the state and its leaders. This is what will happen in the next elections.” – added Fizo.
We will remind that the incident happened during the awarding ceremony, where Simon Omanik was awarded the bronze medal at the Central European Mathematical Olympiad from the hands of the Minister of Education Tomas Drucker. When the minister offered the schoolboy to shake hands with President Pellegrini, Omanik refused, although the president extended his hand.
Simon later explained his gesture by saying that Pellegrini’s victory in the 2024 elections over pro-Ukrainian candidate Ivan Korchok was achieved through manipulation and fear-mongering, as well as by playing with anti-Ukrainian sentiment in society.
