Fico said that he had agreed with Putin on the supply of gas to Slovakia

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that during his visit to Vladimir Putin in Moscow at the end of December, he ensured the supply of gas to Slovakia, before Ukraine stopped the transit. About this informs Reuters.

“I needed to provide at least gas for Slovakia’s internal consumption, which we did, even without raising gas prices,” – explained Fizo.

According to the Slovak operator Eustream, after the cessation of supplies from Ukraine, Slovakia began to receive gas through Hungary, where Russian gas enters through “Turkish Stream”. Fico estimated Slovakia’s losses from the transit stop at 500 million euros due to the loss of transit fees and another 1 billion euros due to higher gas prices

Earlier, the Slovak Prime Minister accused Ukraine of harming Slovakia due to the non-renewal of the agreement on the transit of Russian gas, which expired at the end of 2024. He also threatened to cut electricity supplies to Ukraine and reduce aid to refugees.
