For the first time, a festival of Israeli animated films will be held in Ukraine

March 26 and 27 in the Kyiv cultural cluster “Krakow” with the support of the Embassy of Israel in Ukraine for the first time will take place festival of Israeli animated films.

For more than 30 years, Israeli animation was almost not presented in Ukraine to a wide audience, although during this time it developed dynamically and became a noticeable phenomenon in the world film industry.

“That is why the Embassy of Israel in Ukraine took the initiative to create a kind of retrospective of Israeli animated films of recent years, in order to give the Ukrainian audience the opportunity to get acquainted with the best achievements of Israel in this field. The films presented at this festival have already managed to receive many awards both at domestic and international festivals.” – says the press release.

In general, not too many cartoons are made in Israel, there are no powerful animation studios, but the school of animation, in particular at the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, is one of the most powerful in the world. Therefore, the program includes many short films by young independent directors, along with student films.

Films at the festival were divided into three thematic collections aimed at an adult audience. The main film of the program will be “A Letter to a Pig”, nominated for “Oscar 2024”. Such works as “Sacred Holocaust”, “Swimming with wings”, “Temporarily deleted”, “Yoga-warm-up” and others will also be shown. In total, the program included 17 animated films.
