For the first time since the start of the protests in Georgia, the night passed without clashes with the police

On the night of December 5, a protest was held in Tbilisi, which for the first time took place without mass clashes with the police and dispersal of demonstrators. About this informs edition of NewsGeorgia.

Traditionally, such actions ended with attempts by the police to push thousands of people away from the parliament, especially after clashes on the streets adjacent to Rustaveli Avenue. However, this time no such actions by security forces were recorded. Journalists also noted that during the protest almost no pyrotechnics were used, which made the action less confrontational.

Despite the general peaceful atmosphere, some arrests still took place. Two protesters were detained on Chichinadze Street after a verbal altercation with law enforcement officers. Three more people were detained before the start of the action as part of inspections at the “Freedom Square” metro station. According to the police, they found prohibited items that could be used during the protest.

The protest action started in the evening, but the protesters gradually moved from Rustaveli Avenue to Republic Square around 02:00 am. The rally lasted until 04:30, after which most of the participants of the action left.
