Former First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council detained in Spain

On May 14, 2025, on the territory of the Kingdom of Spain, local law enforcement officers detained the former first deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, who is accused in the case of the SAP and NABU for causing losses to the state in the amount of 17.44 million hryvnias. The prosecutor’s office does not name the official, however information Forbes, we are talking about the former first deputy secretary of the National Security Council Igor Hladkovskyi.

Currently, the competent authorities are considering the issue of his extradition to Ukraine. In the course of the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the ex-official of the NSDC, acting contrary to the interests of the service and using the powers granted to him, contributed to the obtaining of an unlawful benefit by the company, in which he and his relatives own a share of ownership – PJSC “Bohdan Motors Automobile Company”.

In October 2019, he was informed of the suspicion of committing an offense provided for in part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. On July 2, 2021, the indictment was transferred to the High Anti-Corruption Court for review on the merits. In November 2023, the accused left the territory of Ukraine. In April 2024, the panel of judges of the Supreme Administrative Court approved the request of the SAP prosecutor and declared him wanted.

According to Part 1 of Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by law and confirmed by a court verdict.
