Germany will not disclose details of US weapons to be supplied to Ukraine: Pistorius

Germany is currently refraining from divulging details about the US weapons that are planned to be transferred to Ukraine, as it is believed in Berlin that public statements on this topic are inappropriate. About this stated German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in an interview with Tagesthemen.

According to Pistorius, during a visit to Washington, he discussed with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth all possible options for military supplies from the United States. At the same time, apart from mentioning Patriot air defense systems, the minister did not disclose other types of weapons.

“We have agreed to keep it confidential until it becomes clear what the results will be in the coming weeks. Talking about it publicly now would not be the right approach. We want to become more unpredictable in what we do.” – explained the head of the German Defense Ministry.

Regarding the statements of former US President Donald Trump, Pistorius noted that one should not rush to conclusions about a “fundamental turn” in the US position on war. As the minister emphasized, Trump’s words only indicate that European countries have “wider and faster wallets” to provide Ukraine with weapons, since the US no longer intends to cover these costs. He also added that although the final procurement parameters have not yet been agreed upon, working groups are working to agree on the details as soon as possible.

It will be recalled that on July 14, it was announced that an agreement had been concluded between the United States and NATO regarding the supply of American weapons to Ukraine at the expense of funding from European countries. According to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, within the framework of this agreement, Ukraine can receive a large number of air defense systems, missiles and ammunition.
