Glass bus stops worth 7.7 million hryvnias were ordered in the front-line city of Marhanets

The mayor’s office of the front-line city of Marganets in the Nikopol district of the Dnipropetrovsk region ordered public transport stops made of glass worth UAH 7.7 million. About this testify data in the Prozorro system.
The communal enterprise “Komunalnyk” of the Marganets City Council concluded an agreement with the FOP Chorna Yevgenia Dmitrivna for the purchase of bus stops for the specified amount. Procurement was carried out without open bidding, which is allowed for customers located in the zone of active hostilities.
Manganese officially enters this zone from December 1, 2024. The city is under regular shelling from Russian troops, in particular from barrel artillery. Public transport is also under attack: in April, a bus carrying workers to the enterprise was hit by a drone.
“There are not enough shelters in Marhanka. People often hide in the basements of old buildings, where there are no basic conditions. The situation is critical — and this is where millions of hryvnias should go.”, says the message.
Despite the threat, the city authorities ordered not protective shelters, but 21 fiberglass-metal bus stops worth UAH 370,000 each. Their manufacturer is not specified. Each stop is 5 m long, 1.80 m wide and 2.50 m high, with a metal frame, a monolithic polycarbonate sheet roof and 8 mm triplex glass walls. It is a multi-layered impact-resistant glass that “cracks upon impact and holds rolling pins”, but is not able to provide protection against shelling.
At the same time, shelters are being ordered in other frontline communities. The Kherson regional state administration recently concluded a contract for the supply of reinforced concrete structures made of heavy concrete, intended for the protection of 15 people, with delivery and installation by crane at a price of UAH 376,000 per unit. Their dimensions will be 4.30 m in length, 2.35 m in width and 2.40 m in height. The structures will consist of a vestibule and a main room.
