Google will combat fraud using AI Gemini.

Google has improved the Enhanced Protection function in the Chrome browser. The desktop version includes integration of the Gemini Nano language model, which helps detect new forms of fraud, including fake technical support. About this informs Engadget.

Gemini Nano effectively analyzes complex sites, which allows you to quickly detect new fraudulent tactics. The model runs locally on the user’s computer and is able to detect threats that were previously overlooked. Google intends to bring this technology to Android devices as well and use it in the future to counter other types of online threats.

In addition, Android users will get enhanced protection against fraudulent notifications in Chrome. To do this, Google again applies machine learning, which works directly on the device. If the system detects a potentially harmful message, Chrome will alert the user and offer to view it or unsubscribe. In the event of a misidentification, it will be possible to allow notifications from a specific site.

Countering fraud remains one of Google’s priorities. Last year in May, the company presented a function that warns in real time about possible fraud during phone calls. Security functions in the “Messages” application have also been updated. According to Google, these measures allow blocking hundreds of millions of fraudulent attempts before they even reach users.
