South Korean intelligence has announced that North Korea has sent the first batch of soldiers to Russia, who are likely to take part in the war against Ukraine, and missile officers are already on the front lines.
According to reports from world agencies, South Korean intelligence claims that 1,500 North Korean soldiers are currently at Russian training grounds in the Far East. They will probably be sent to Ukraine to participate in hostilities. The soldiers were given Russian uniforms and forged documents to hide their origins.
South Korean intelligence also says that missile officers from North Korea are already in the conflict zone and are helping Russian troops use North Korean missiles.
South Korean special services have provided satellite images and photos confirming the transfer of North Korean special forces to Russia. Using facial recognition technology, they also identified some military personnel sent to Russia.
South Korea’s presidential administration said President Yoon Seok-yeol held an emergency meeting with key intelligence, military and national security officials to discuss North Korean military involvement in the war on Russia’s side.
The South Korean agency Yonhap reported that, according to intelligence, North Korea plans to send up to 12,000 troops to participate in hostilities in Ukraine.
