Government approves strategy to create barrier-free space in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the order “Some issues of communication support for the implementation of the National Strategy for the creation of a barrier-free space in Ukraine by 2030”. About this reported Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
“For the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, accessibility is one of the key priorities, and the purpose of this government decision is to provide effective communication support for the National Strategy for the Creation of a Barrier-Free Space by 2030 and to increase public awareness of the importance and value of accessibility.” – says the message.
The strategy is aimed at popularizing the principles of physical, informational, digital, social, educational and economic barrier-freeness among citizens. To achieve these goals, it is planned to actively involve representatives of various sectors responsible for meeting the needs of people with disabilities, as well as public organizations and communities that face various barriers.
The document also provides for the analysis of possible communication risks and the development of mechanisms for their prevention or overcoming in case of crisis situations. Authorities at all levels, including ministries, central executive bodies, regional and Kyiv city military administrations, are required to use standard solutions approved within the framework of the Strategy.
In addition, they must develop and coordinate communication plans for events with the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, as well as regularly report on their implementation.
