Government transfers gambling regulation from KRAIL to Ministry of Digital Transformation

The Cabinet of Ministers transferred the authority to regulate gambling and lotteries from the Gambling Business Commission (KRAIL) to the Ministry of Digital Transformation. About this reported representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.
“The Ministry of Digital Transformation has been entrusted with the functions of ensuring the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of organizing and conducting gambling games and the lottery field. The Regulation on the Ministry of Digital Transformation has been supplemented with norms regarding the assignment to the Ministry of Digital Affairs of tasks and powers to ensure the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of organizing and conducting gambling games and the field of lotteries”, – says the message.
Among the key changes, the Ministry of Digital Affairs has been empowered to issue and control licenses, and the licensing process will be automated. Also, 14.35 million hryvnias were transferred from the KRAIL budget to the new regulatory system.
We will remind you that on December 4, the Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 9256-d as a whole, which provides for the liquidation of the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL) and the strengthening of control over the gambling business.
