The Ombudsman held the first meeting with the heads of Ukrainian diplomatic institutions abroad

As part of the conference of ambassadors of Ukraine “Military diplomacy: stability, weapons, victory”, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets held a panel discussion on the topic “Humanitarian dimension of human rights protection in the international arena”.

According to the data press services department, 113 ambassadors, permanent representatives, consuls general, consuls of Ukraine and temporary chargé d’affaires took part in the event.

In his speech, Lubinets emphasized the key aspects of the activities of the Office of the Ombudsman, with a special emphasis on international activities. He spoke about the institution’s entry into international alliances and associations, the organization of visits by foreign delegations to Ukraine, and the opening of temporary representative offices of the Commissioner abroad.

The Ombudsman also focused on his powers and the activities of the Office’s representatives. He emphasized that every Ukrainian, in particular those who are abroad, can turn to him for the protection of their rights. Special emphasis was placed on international monitoring visits.

Following the meeting, Lubinets appealed to the ambassadors:

• Support the work of representatives of the Office of the Ombudsman in the countries of their accreditation.
• Inform foreign audiences using the resources of the Office of the Ombudsman, including information brochures available on the official website.
• Organize events abroad to support point 4 of the Peace Formula and attract new countries to this initiative.

During the meeting, the ambassadors actively asked questions, in particular, about strengthening the work with the Peace Formula in the international arena and interaction with other countries.

Lubinets emphasized that human rights are a powerful tool for strengthening international cooperation. He also expressed gratitude to the ambassadors for their role in protecting Ukraine’s national interests abroad and readiness for further cooperation.
