GUR launched a large-scale cyberattack on Russia’s Internet infrastructure: mass media

According to the intelligence services, they were involved in supporting or financing Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.

Cyber specialists of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine conducted one of the largest DDoS attacks in the history of the Internet infrastructure of Russia, reported NV sources.

Over the course of a week, cyber specialists of the State Security Service attacked critical resources of Russia, gaining access to a large array of confidential data. During the attack, the online services of all major Russian banks, including the Central Bank, telecommunication service providers, national payment systems, social networks and messengers, government resources and dozens of other services were affected.

The special services noted that all the attacked resources were involved in one way or another in supporting or financing Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. Banks such as VTB-Bank, Alfa Bank, SberBank, Raiffeisen Bank, RSHB Bank, Ak Bars, Rosbank, Gazprombank, T-Bank, iBank, Dom.R Bank and Bank of Russia were attacked by hackers. On the last day of the attack, the resources of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Tax Service were affected.

As of 19:00 on July 30, the Russians were unable to restore the proper functioning of the leading banking and payment systems, the work of mobile operators, social networks and Internet providers.

“This is just a prelude to even more interesting events. We advise the Russians to start digging a grave for their digital infrastructure. It is a good time for the enemy to remember the idea of an isolated, primordial Russian ‘Cheburnet’ with ditches, digital turntables and firewalls around the perimeter”, – said the interlocutor at the State Government.
