Russian special services are trying to recruit Ukrainians on the territory of the European Union countries, so the Main Directorate of Intelligence called on citizens to be attentive and, in case of suspicious contacts, to notify law enforcement authorities. About this informs GUR press office.
“The GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine urges: in the event of an attempt to establish contact by suspicious persons, it is necessary to immediately contact the law enforcement agencies of the country where you are staying or Ukrainian diplomatic institutions”, – says the message.
The agency emphasizes that Russian special services have stepped up efforts to recruit Ukrainian citizens to involve them in illegal activities on the territory of EU countries. Potential executors are offered a monetary reward for participating in illegal activities, in particular for monitoring critical infrastructure objects and performing other tasks for the benefit of Russia.
The HUR explains that most often it is about Ukrainians from the temporarily occupied territories who found themselves in difficult life circumstances. According to intelligence information, the recruitment of Ukrainians to implement hostile plans in Europe is another manifestation of the hybrid aggression that Russia is waging against Ukraine and the entire European community.
