The Ukrainian court will consider the case of a former employee of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES), who is suspected of humiliating national honor and dignity. About this informs Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office in Telegram.
Although the name of the suspect has not been officially released, according to the media, it is Andriy Vasylenko. There is still a post on his Facebook page in which he ridicules the independence of Ukraine.
The law enforcement officers reported that an indictment has been sent to the court against a former employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications for committing deliberate actions aimed at humiliating national honor and dignity.
The prosecutor’s office recalled that the suspect, while working at the Ministry of Education and Culture, posted a post on his Facebook where he claimed that “independence did not benefit all former USSR countries.” He called Ukraine’s independence a “throwaway” and criticized the leaflets campaigning to vote for Ukraine’s exit from the USSR on December 1, 1991. According to him, people did not vote for independence, but for quick enrichment.
“The accused disseminated thoughts, views and beliefs, the content of which is offensive to the Ukrainian people, humiliates their national honor and dignity on the basis of nationality, political and ideological beliefs”, – noted the law enforcement officers.
Currently, Vasylenko faces up to three years in prison.
