In China, for the first time in the world, it was possible to cure a patient with type 2 diabetes: mass media

In China, for the first time in the world, it was possible to completely cure a patient with type II diabetes thanks to an innovative cell transplantation. A 59-year-old man, who had been fighting this disease for 25 years and was dependent on daily insulin injections, was given a chance for a new life.
About this write South China Morning Post.
Chinese scientists have developed a unique technique, which consists in modifying the stem cells of the patient’s pancreas and their subsequent transplantation. This allowed the man’s body to restore its natural ability to produce insulin.
It is noted that for 33 months, the patient does not need insulin injections or other drugs, and the level of sugar in his blood remains within the normal range. This indicates a full recovery of pancreatic function and healing from diabetes.
The publication writes that this breakthrough opens up new perspectives in the treatment of type II diabetes, which is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world. According to the World Health Organization, the number of people with diabetes is increasing every year, which makes the search for effective treatment methods extremely urgent.
Chinese scientists hope that their development will become available for widespread use and help millions of people around the world get rid of diabetes and its complications. Research is currently ongoing to confirm the effectiveness and safety of the method on a larger number of patients.
