In Croatia, they are looking for three Ukrainians for setting fire to the port: 35 ships worth 2 million euros burned

Croatia is looking for three citizens of Ukraine, who are suspected of setting fire to the port, which led to the destruction of 35 ships. As reported by the Croatian publication jutarnji.hr, the police have completed their investigation into the incident that took place in the port of Medulin in May. The suspects are a 28-year-old man and two 25-year-old citizens of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the Ukrainians arrived from Poland to Croatia on May 14. They parked their car in the Medulin area and walked towards the sea side of the local port. Around 3:40 a.m., while the other two suspects stood watch, one of the 25-year-olds climbed over the fence surrounding the pier and headed toward the piers. He threw a bottle of flammable liquid at one of the vessels, which caused a fire. The fire quickly spread to nearby vessels, and as a result, destroyed 34 other moored vessels, of which 22 were completely destroyed and the rest partially damaged.

This fire caused material damage to the owners of the ships in the amount of approximately two million euros. However, according to the mass media, the suspected citizens of Ukraine were not detained immediately, as the police found out about the incident too late. Currently, the law enforcement officers say that the suspects are no longer in the territory of Croatia. Criminal proceedings against them have already been transferred to the relevant state prosecutor’s office, and the next step will be the issuance of an international arrest warrant.

In addition to this case, the German prosecutor’s office previously issued an arrest warrant for a Ukrainian suspected of blowing up Nord Stream. As reported by the German publications ARD, Süddeutsche Zeitung and Die Zeit, wanted Volodymyr S., who previously lived in Poland and worked as a diving instructor, is suspected of being involved in this incident. In addition to him, two more citizens of Ukraine, whose names have not been mentioned, are also suspected of undermining the gas pipeline, presumably acting as divers.
