In Kyiv, police officers bought the services of prostitutes several times for an investigative experiment

In Kyiv, the Dnipro District Court sentenced three women to four years in prison for organizing a brothel. All the convicts – a Georgian citizen and two Ukrainian women – denied their guilt, claiming that they were victims of “revenge by the police”.
According to the case file, the police conducted six investigative experiments during which the activities of the suspects were documented. Women were engaged in searching for girls and clients, as well as administrative management of the institution where prostitutes worked, paying a part of their income to the organizers.
In the period from September to October 2022, the policeman, taking part in an investigative experiment, used the services of prostitutes three times, paying UAH 4,500 for it. In November 2022, another law enforcement officer also used the brothel’s services, paying UAH 1,600. In January 2023, two more police representatives conducted experiments, paying UAH 2,000 and UAH 5,000, respectively.
During the trial, the women claimed that they were only engaged in prostitution, not pimping. Two of them said the prosecution was “revengeful” because they refused an offer to cooperate with the police on its terms. One of the defendants also noted that the law enforcement officers offered her to create a porn studio, but she refused, which, according to her, was the reason for the “accusations”.
The court found the women guilty under Part 2 of Art. 303 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced each to four years of imprisonment. The verdict can be appealed in the appeal procedure.
