The SBI detained an employee of the Ministry of Justice and a foreigner for trying to embezzle the funds of an agricultural enterprise
According to the agency, on August 1, 2024, the accomplices received the first tranche in the amount of $30,000.
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) detained an employee of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and her accomplice, a foreign citizen, who fraudulently tried to seize the funds of a large agricultural enterprise. About this informs DBR press office.
It is noted that an employee of the Ministry of Justice promised a representative of a large agricultural enterprise for $120,000 to enter information about the right to use agricultural land into the Real Estate Register.
“The official involved in the scheme an acquaintance of hers, a foreign citizen, who presented himself as an influential official of the same Ministry and acted as a guarantor of the fulfillment of promises”, the message says.
According to the SBI information, on August 1, 2024, the accomplices received the first tranche in the amount of $30,000. They informed the applicant that in order to positively resolve the issue, he must transfer the remaining amount within two days.
The detention operation was carried out jointly with the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine. Both detainees are currently under investigation, charged with fraud and abuse of office.
In addition, the investigation established that the detainees may have been involved in other cases of fraud with state property. They used a similar scheme to extort money from other entrepreneurs, promising to solve their land issues by forging official documents.
