In Lviv Oblast, doctors trafficked in disability: the head of the LKK and four doctors were arrested

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) together with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) exposed the scheme in the Lviv region. A group of doctors from the district hospital, led by the head of the Medical Advisory Commission (MAC), traded disability.
About this write DBR:
“In Lviv Oblast, SBI employees, in cooperation with the SBU, exposed an organized criminal group operating in one of the district hospitals. Doctors earned on established disability groups for patients. The head of the medical advisory commission of the medical institution involved four doctors in illegal activities”.
Criminals sought out patients who needed disability or its extension and offered “help” for a reward. The size of the “bribe” depended on the gender and purpose – women were offered a lower price, and the most expensive was disability for men of conscription age, because it enabled them to go abroad
“The law enforcement officers documented 10 cases of receiving illegal benefits by the organizer and members of the criminal group. Clients paid from UAH 12,000 to 50,000 for the preparation of the necessary documentation. The amount received by criminals for these 10 cases alone is almost UAH 200,000, but the perpetrators of such a scheme earned much moremore”, informs the DBR.
Law enforcement officers searched the place of work and residence of the suspects. Documents were seized, as well as funds in various currencies: almost half a million hryvnias, more than 47 thousand US dollars and more than 7.5 thousand euros.
An investigation is currently underway to establish all facts of corruption and persons who used illegal services. Those who received fictitious disabilities to avoid mobilization are at risk of conscription.
The organizer and his accomplices were charged with committing a crime by a group of persons. For this, they face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
During the searches, documents and large amounts of cash in various currencies were seized. Two suspects were taken into custody, and the head of the LKK was suspended from work.
