In May, the cost of electricity will change for some consumers

In May, electricity tariffs will change in Ukraine: this will affect consumers who use electric heating. From May 1, 2025, the preferential tariff for this category will be canceled and they will pay for electricity at the general tariff. About this informs Yasno press office.

According to the government resolution, the cost of electricity for household consumers is set at UAH 4.32 per kWh and will be effective in May. According to representatives of the authorities, there are currently no plans to increase the price. Thus, Ukrainians will continue to pay UAH 4.32 per kWh.

However, from May 1, some consumers expect changes. Households with electric heating will lose the right to a reduced tariff, which provided for the payment of UAH 2.64 per kWh for consumption of up to 2,000 kWh per month. From now on, they will also pay the general tariff — UAH 4.32 per kWh. This can significantly affect the costs of families using electricity to heat their homes.

Current Government Resolution No. 632 of May 31, 2024 sets tariffs until the end of April 2025. After May 1, 2025, the government must adopt a new decision:

  • increase electricity tariffs, which can further complicate the situation for consumers;
  • to maintain the current level of tariffs by extending the validity of the current resolution for another year.

Such decisions are usually made at the end of the heating season, so the ruling is expected to cover the period from May 2024 to May 2025. The coming days will be decisive for determining the future cost of electricity for all categories of consumers.

We will remind you that on April 23, the company “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, which is part of the “Naftogaz” group, decided to extend the “Fixed” tariff plan. The price of gas for household consumers will remain at UAH 7.96 per cubic meter at least until the end of April 2026.
