Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia on the territory of Ukraine, 4,228 cases of the use of ammunition equipped with dangerous chemical substances have been recorded. As stated in the message, Russian troops use chemical munitions along with traditional means of fire damage. We are talking about such means as K-51 and RG-VO, which are prohibited for use in military conflicts, since their purpose is to fight riots, not to wage war.
A significant amount of ammunition with unidentified chemical compounds was also found. Units of radiation, chemical and biological intelligence of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces recorded 250 cases of the use of such chemical munitions during September 2024 alone.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that since February 2023, the use of chemical weapons by the Russian Federation has become a systemic phenomenon on the battlefield. As of September 24, 2024, 4,228 cases of the use of chemical munitions by Russian forces were recorded.
These actions of Russia are a gross violation of international norms of warfare, in particular the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons. The Ukrainian military emphasized the need for an international response to such crimes and strengthening the responsibility of the aggressor.
