Sumy city government announced a new tender for thermal modernization of the “Avangard” stadium worth 9.5 million hryvnias. This tender is part of a large-scale renovation plan for the stadium, which includes a number of important renovation works.
Chronicle of a multi-million dollar repair
- 2017: LLC “BK Fedorchenko”, the firm of the head of the regional council Viktor Fedorchenko, wins the tender for stadium reconstruction with an offer of UAH 18.5 million. Work begins, but soon stops due to a lack of funds and discovered violations in the project, in particular, the use of Russian building codes.
- 2018-2020 years: The City Council repeatedly allocates additional funds for the continuation of reconstruction, new tenders are held, the cost of works increases. NABU starts an investigation into possible abuses.
- 2022: Tenders for the capital repair of the gymnasium and further reconstruction of the stadium for the total amount of UAH 40 million have been announced. The fate of these tenders remains unknown.
According to the new tender documentation, the works will include
- Dismantling works: dismantling partitions, windows, doors, elements of the facade, roof, etc.
Earthworks: development of the soil, transportation, arrangement of the base for the foundations. - Facade works: insulation and decoration of the facade, installation of windows and doors, installation of the drainage system.
- Roofing works: insulation, waterproofing, installation of a covering made of rolled materials.
- Other works: installation of lighting, grills, fences, interior repairs, etc.
