The Verkhovna Rada registered a draft law on “full liter or kilogram”

In the Verkhovna Rada registered Draft Law No. 12358 on Amendments to the Law “On Protection of Consumer Rights”. It refers to “improving informing consumers about the prices of goods for the purpose of implementing Directive 98/6/EC of the European Parliament and the European Council.”
The author of the draft law, People’s Deputy Dmytro Gurin, emphasized that after making the proposed changes, “bottles of 850 ml of milk will remain only in history.” The main idea is that consumers receive clear and understandable information about the cost of products, regardless of their volume or form of packaging.
For this purpose, it is proposed to change Article 15 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Consumer Rights”, which enshrines the right of buyers to access complete and transparent information about goods. The innovation provides for the obligation of retail chains to indicate the price of products calculated per liter or kilogram. This will allow consumers to more easily compare the cost of products of different brands or package sizes.
These changes will apply exclusively to commercial establishments and will not affect product manufacturers, in particular, the volume of their containers. According to the author of the initiative, the goal is to increase price transparency and convenience for buyers.
Currently, some national chains have voluntarily implemented the practice of indicating prices per liter or kilogram, regardless of the size of the package, which indicates a positive trend in ensuring consumer rights.
