In the Moscow region, a general from the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces was blown up

On April 25, Major General Yaroslav Moskalyk, who held the position of Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, was killed in a car explosion in Balashikha, Moscow region. This is reported by the Russian mass media.
The explosion occurred in the morning of April 25 near a house in the Aviators neighborhood. This residential area was once planned as a quarter for military pensioners. The shock wave shattered windows in the apartments on the lower floors, and one of the cars parked nearby was also damaged. After the explosion, a Volkswagen car caught fire, the fire was promptly extinguished by rescuers.
Investigators believe that the car was deliberately parked in the driveway where the soldier lived. Yaroslav Moskalyk lived in building No. 2 on Nesterova Boulevard — it was near this building that the car in which the explosion occurred was parked.
The cause of the explosion was the activation of an explosive device, which was filled with impressive elements. The explosive device was planted inside the car and activated remotely. The car previously belonged to another owner, who sold it to a man of Caucasian appearance without Russian citizenship. At the time of sale, the car ran on gasoline, but the new owner converted it within a year, installing a gas system.
Moskalyk worked as deputy chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation since 2021. The main operational department of the General Staff is a key body responsible for planning military operations of various levels in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In 2015, Yaroslav Moskalyk was a member of the working group of the Contact Group on behalf of the Russian side in the negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Donbas.
