In the Odesa region, a woman is suspected of killing her own child, who irritated her with prolonged crying
In the village of Odesa district, law enforcement officers detained a 43-year-old local woman who is suspected of murdering her own nine-month-old daughter. By data police of Odesa region, the incident happened on the night of May 3. In the morning, the woman herself turned to the police, reporting the child’s sudden death.
However, in the course of the primary investigative actions, it became clear that the child’s death was not natural. The investigators established that the woman in a state of emotional exhaustion, unable to bear her daughter’s prolonged crying, used physical force on her, which caused fatal consequences.
The preliminary conclusion of the experts indicates that the child died as a result of suffocation. The exact cause should be determined by the forensic examination, which is currently underway.
The woman was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators are currently preparing documents to charge her with the intentional murder of a minor child, a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
Within the scope of the investigation, opened under Clause 2 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, a number of forensic examinations have been appointed. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the Bilyaiv District Prosecutor’s Office is conducting procedural supervision in the case.
