In Turkey, there was an explosion at a military plant, there are dead and wounded

On December 24, an explosion occurred at an ammunition production enterprise in western Turkey. The incident happened in Balikesir province and, according to preliminary data, led to the death of 12 people. About this informs TRT TV channel.

“The governor of Balikesir Ismail Ustaoglu reported that, according to preliminary data, 12 people died and three more people were injured as a result of an explosion that occurred at a factory for the production of explosives in the Karesi district.” – the message says.

The governor emphasized that the version about possible sabotage has been rejected, but the cause of the explosion is still unknown. Rescue services are working to clear the debris, as there is a possibility that people may be trapped under the debris.

More than 100 ambulances and fire departments immediately arrived at the scene. The plant where the explosion occurred is a large enterprise with about 1,000 employees, so authorities are still trying to determine the exact number of people inside at the time of the incident.

The local authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy, in particular, checking compliance with safety techniques at the enterprise. Such explosions at high-risk production facilities rarely occur without gross operational violations or human error.
