Patrick Turner was appointed as NATO’s special representative in Ukraine

In particular, the British politician will be the coordinator of NATO's interaction with the Ukrainian authorities.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the appointment of Patrick Turner as the Alliance’s special representative in Ukraine. About this reported NATO press service on July 17.

Turner will begin his duties in Kyiv in September 2024. As a senior representative, he will lead the Alliance’s representation in Ukraine, coordinate NATO’s interaction with the Ukrainian authorities, and provide assessments and advice on the situation in Ukraine.

“Patrick Turner will bring years of leadership and experience to this role. As a dedicated public servant, he has a strong track record of delivering results. I am confident that he will excel in this important role as NATO continues to build its support for Ukraine.”Stoltenberg noted.

Turner himself said that for him “it is a real honor to be the representative of NATO in Ukraine.” He looks forward to the opportunity to lead the Alliance’s representation in Kyiv and to work with the Ukrainian authorities to provide support to Ukrainians.

Prior to his appointment, Patrick Turner served as NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Defense Policy and Planning, and held a number of senior civil service positions in the UK.

Turner’s appointment and the creation of a program to support Ukraine were agreed upon by allies at the NATO summit in Washington.
