In Ukraine, gas prices have risen to their highest level in over 2.5 years

Prices for natural gas on the domestic market of Ukraine have risen sharply, exceeding UAH 31,550 per thousand cubic meters including VAT. This is the highest level since November 24, 2022 — in more than two and a half years. About this testify ExPro data.
According to ExPro quotes, on June 18, gas traded in the range of UAH 31,200-31,900/thousand. cubic m (with VAT), depending on the type of resource, and at the end of the day, some of the offers reached UAH 32,000 or more. The increase in prices on the Ukrainian gas market continues from the beginning of May 2025. Only since the beginning of June, the price of gas has risen by 26%, and since May – by 1.6 times.
Growth has accelerated in recent days. If earlier the prices on the market were fixed at the level of UAH 29,500/thousand. cubic m, then already on Wednesday the cost exceeded UAH 31,500.
“To a large extent, the increase in natural gas prices in Ukraine is associated with the increase in prices at European hubs, which on Wednesday exceeded €40/MWh for the first time since the beginning of April 2025. Gas in Europe is becoming more expensive against the background of geopolitical risks, primarily the war between Israel and Iran, which may affect global LNG supply and demand.” – the message says.
Another factor influencing the Ukrainian market is the high demand from domestic consumers, ExPro emphasizes. Industrial enterprises are actively purchasing resources both for the near term and as a reserve for the heating season. Among the active players in the market are state-owned companies, in particular “Operator GTS of Ukraine” LLC and “Gas Supply Company “Naftogaz Trading” LLC.
In addition, the decrease in supply was influenced by the government’s decision, according to which PJSC “Ukrnafta” must sell gas from its own production for the company “Naftogaz” at a fixed price of UAH 12,000/thousand. cubic m to ensure PSO supply.
