In Ukraine, the length of pensionable service for retirement has changed

As of January 1, 2025, Ukraine has increased the requirements for the length of insurance experience required for retirement. About this informs Pension fund. The relevant changes are enshrined in Article 26 of the Law of Ukraine “On Mandatory State Pension Insurance”.
Now, to get the right to a pension at the age of 60, you need to have at least 32 years of insurance experience. In case of its absence, the pension can be issued at the age of 63, provided that the length of service is from 22 to 31 years. If the length of service is between 15-21 years, the pension will be assigned at the age of 65. For those with less than 15 years of experience, state social assistance is provided instead of pension payments.
Supplements to the old-age pension were additionally introduced. In 2025, pensioners who will be 70, 75 and 80 years old will receive increases in the amount of 300, 456 and 570 hryvnias, respectively. But such an allowance is available only if the amount of the pension does not exceed 10,340.35 hryvnias.
Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovich previously noted that in 2025, the Verkhovna Rada may adopt a draft law on the accumulative pension system. At the same time, she emphasized that there are no plans to increase the retirement age in Ukraine, despite the demographic challenges.
