In Ukraine, the number of car registration transactions has increased

Since the beginning of April 2024, the number of registration operations with vehicles in the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has increased by 42%. The greatest demand is observed for re-registration under contracts of sale and donation.
About this testifies statistics of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In the first week of April, 43,578 registration actions were carried out, in the second week – 48,784, and in the third – 61,816. In general, in the three weeks of April, the number of car registration operations increased by 42% compared to the same period in March.
The most requested service was re-registration under the sales contract. Since the beginning of April, 110,997 vehicles have been reregistered under this contract. For comparison, during the same period in March, there were 74,389 such operations.
The number of re-registrations under the donation contract is also increasing. In the first three weeks of April, 2,564 such operations were carried out, while in the same period of March – 444.
Experts associate the boom in re-registrations with several factors:
- War in Ukraine: People seek to secure their assets by transferring vehicles to loved ones.
- Changes in legislation: On April 11, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on mobilization, which includes restrictions on leaving the country for men of conscription age. Re-registration for women can help them avoid these restrictions.
- The increase in car prices: due to the shortage of new cars and the increase in the price of components, the prices of used cars in Ukraine have increased significantly. Re-registration becomes more profitable than buying a new car
How to re-register a car:
- Get a ticket for receiving the service online or at the terminal of the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
- Prepare the necessary documents: passport, registration number of the registration card, vehicle registration certificate, power of attorney (if necessary).
- Contact the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
- Pay the state duty (approximately UAH 755 without issuing a license plate).
