On the night of May 7, Wednesday, India announced the start of a military operation called “Sindur”, within the framework of which missile strikes were carried out on objects that it calls “terrorist infrastructure”. They are located both on the territory of Pakistan and in Kashmir controlled by it. Pakistan described the strikes as an “unprovoked and flagrant act of war”. informs CNN.

“The Indian Air Force, while remaining in Indian airspace, violated Pakistan’s sovereignty by using standoff weapons, targeting civilians across the International Border at Muridke and Bahawalpur, and across the Line of Control at Kotla and Muzaffarabad. India’s act of aggression led to the martyrdom of civilians, including women and children. This act of aggression also posed a serious threat to commercial air traffic.” – said the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

According to the report of the military spokesman of Pakistan, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, as a result of the Indian strike, at least eight people were killed, among them children, and another 35 people were injured.

In response, the Indian embassy in Pakistan said that the attacks were targeted, carefully measured and responsible, and were aimed solely at terrorist camps, with no intention of targeting other targets, which could lead to further escalation.

“No Pakistani civilian, economic or military target was hit. Only known terrorist camps were targeted. These steps were taken after the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were killed.” – says the statement of the Ministry of Defense of India.
