Iran and the US have resumed talks on their nuclear program

Iran and the United States have started a new round of negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear program. Negotiations are taking place in Rome with the assistance of Oman. About this informs ISNA.
The Iranian delegation is headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the American side is represented by US Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman, Badr Bin Hamad Al Busaidi, said on the X social network that the talks gave “some progress, although not final.”
“We hope that the remaining issues will be clarified in the coming days so that we can move towards the common goal of reaching a strong and honorable agreement.”, — noted al Busaidi.
Although previous rounds of negotiations have not resulted in final agreements, Iran’s nuclear program remains one of the central issues of global security and regional stability in the Middle East. Iran insists on the integrity of its uranium enrichment program and refuses to hand over existing stockpiles. Also, Tehran categorically excludes the possibility of discussing its ballistic program.
Iranian officials are demanding legally binding guarantees from the United States that Washington will not withdraw from a future deal, as Donald Trump did in 2018 during his first term. Then the US withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal and renewed tough sanctions that severely hit Iran’s economy.
