‘Iran has made a big mistake”: Israel threatens decisive response to Tehran’s attacks

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted harshly to a massive missile attack by Iran on Israeli territory on Tuesday evening. He stated that Iran had made a serious mistake for which it would have to pay. About this writes Reuters.

“Iran made a big mistake tonight – and it will pay for it. The regime in Iran does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and take revenge on our enemies. We will follow the rule we have established: whoever attacks us, we will attack them.” – he noted.

Israel Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari added that the consequences for Tehran would be serious. According to him, Israeli and American air defense systems effectively neutralized missiles launched from Iran. Hagari stressed that Iran’s actions lead to an escalation in the Middle East, and the events of this day will have long-term consequences

“We have plans and we will act where and when we decide”, – added the representative of the IDF.

After the shelling, Israel responded by striking Hezbollah targets in Beirut. Local residents were warned in advance about the need to evacuate to avoid casualties.

US President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, called Iran’s actions a “significant escalation”, noting that in total Tehran had launched about 200 ballistic missiles, which was later confirmed by Iranian media. Sullivan refrained from commenting on possible related actions by Israel or the United States, but confirmed that American destroyers were involved in intercepting Iranian missiles.

According to Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder, two American destroyers stationed in the Mediterranean Sea participated in repelling the attack. The US military said Tuesday’s missile attack was twice the size of a previous Iranian strike in April this year.
