Iran calls on UN to hold US and Israel responsible for 12-day war

Iran appealed to the UN Security Council with a call to recognize Israel and the United States as responsible for the start of the 12-day war and oblige them to compensate for the damage caused. As of now, there has been no official response from Washington or Tel Aviv. informs The Guardian.

“We formally request that the Security Council recognize the Israeli regime and the United States as the initiators of the act of aggression and recognize their subsequent responsibility, including the payment of compensation and reparations.” – says the letter of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Abbas Arakchi, to the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres

According to Iran’s Ministry of Health, at least 627 people have been killed in Israeli strikes since June 13. According to the Israeli side, 28 people died as a result of Iranian missile attacks.

It will be recalled that on the night of June 13, Israel announced a “preemptive strike” aimed at destroying elements of Iran’s nuclear program and military facilities. On June 22, around 2:30 a.m. local time, the US Air Force struck three Iranian nuclear facilities—Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.

On June 24, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had reached an agreement on a complete ceasefire. According to media reports, it was possible to conclude a truce with the mediation of Qatar. Israel confirmed its agreement to the bilateral ceasefire with Iran proposed by the US, but stressed that it would “react harshly” if the terms of the truce were violated.
