“It is dangerous and pointless to fight until victory with a nuclear country”: statements by Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly

From the podium of the UN General Assembly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov once again used the main narrative of the Russian Federation – he resorted to threats with nuclear weapons.

Lavrov began his speech by saying that the UN is in a state of deep crisis and “something must be done about it.” After that, he lashed out at the US, accusing it of supporting Israel’s attacks on Palestinians, “sabotaging” the Kosovo settlement and involvement in the Nord Stream bombings.

Then he turned to the topic of Ukraine and stated that after the events of the Revolution of Dignity, which in Russia is called a “coup d’état”, the rights of Russians were allegedly suppressed in Ukraine. This, according to him, is the real reason for the beginning of the so-called SVO, that is, a full-scale invasion.

During his speech, Lavrov called the leadership of Ukraine the “illegitimate neo-Nazi Kyiv regime”, and he called attempts to reach a diplomatic settlement at the World Summit a “doomed ultimatum.”

During his speech, he warned against “attempts to win the fight against a nuclear state.” According to him, “fighting to victory” with a nuclear country is dangerous and pointless. The threat was addressed to the “Anglo-Saxons” who are preparing the “illegitimate Nazi Kyiv regime” for a “suicidal adventure”.

Lavrov once again repeated the thesis that the West uses Ukraine as a tool to try to “defeat” Moscow strategically and “prepare Europe for it to also jump into this suicidal adventure.”

Lavrov also accused Zelensky of allegedly wanting direct involvement of NATO countries in hostilities. The minister also stated that “security can be equal and indivisible for everyone, or there will be no security for anyone.” That is, the threat concerns not only “Ukrainian Nazis”, NATO and “Anglo-Saxons”, but the whole world.

Lavrov also said that the West’s decision to use weapons deep in Russia will show “how Putin’s statements about the nuclear doctrine were heard there.” At the same time, Lavrov called Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s statements about the Russian Federation’s plans to attack Ukrainian nuclear power plants “improvisations that don’t work out well.”

In addition, after his speech at the UN General Assembly, the Russian minister gave a press conference where he mentioned the candidate in the US elections from the Republican Party. According to him, if Donald Trump succeeds in persuading Ukraine to cancel “discriminatory laws against Russian speakers”, it will be “a step in the right direction”.

“We are not about territory, we are about people” – Lavrov said, criticizing demands for the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders.

As it does not contradict the so-called “referendum” on the annexation of Crimea and four oblasts, the minister did not speak.

Lavrov’s words were heard against the background of his agreement between the Russian Federation and Burkina Faso on not being the first to deploy weapons in space.

We will remind you that Vladimir Putin recently proposed to expand the list of conditions for the use of nuclear weapons. In the updated edition of the nuclear doctrine, aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear state, but with the participation or support of a nuclear state, is proposed to be considered as their joint attack on the Russian Federation.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called Putin’s nuclear threats “irresponsible”.
