Japan’s largest airline JAL suffered a cyberattack, many flights were delayed

On December 26, Japan Airlines (JAL) announced the delay of dozens of domestic and international flights due to a cyberattack that disrupted the baggage check-in system. About this informs Kyodo News.
The outages began at 07:25 local time. As a result, the airline has suspended ticket sales for all flights until the end of the day, although tickets already purchased remain valid. JAL contacted the police about a possible DDoS attack, in which the network is overwhelmed by a large number of requests from different sources in a short period of time.
The airline is actively working to eliminate the consequences of the attack and establish its source. JAL also noted that the incident may affect future flights. To stabilize the work, the router, which was probably the target of the hackers, was temporarily turned off.
We will remind that earlier hackers carried out one of the biggest cyberattacks on the state registers of Ukraine. The Department of Justice is working to restore access to critical systems, which could take up to two weeks.
