Judge of Dnipro District Court sentenced to 5 years in prison by HACCU verdict

The higher anti-corruption court found the judge of the Dnipropetrovsk district court guilty of obtaining an illegal benefit and sentenced her to 5 years in prison. This was reported by the VAX press service.
At the same time, according to sources, it is about judge Lali Novik.
“The panel of judges of the Higher Anti-Corruption Court found the judge of the Dnipropetrovsk District Court guilty of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The accused was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 5 years with deprivation of the right to hold the office of a judge for a term of 3 years, with confiscation of part of the property belonging to her by right of ownership (a car and a plot of land with an area of 0.06 hectares)”, says the message.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed in the Appeals Chamber of VAX within 30 days.
We will remind that judge Lali Novik was detained by detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of receiving a bribe in the amount of $2,500. According to the investigation, the judge demanded these funds for passing a decision in favor of an individual in a civil case.
After that, the judge was officially suspended from the administration of justice, and the Prosecutor General’s Office accepted the suspicion and handed the relevant document to the judge.
