Keir Starmer no longer considers transgender people to be women

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer no longer believes that transgender women are women. This was reported by his official spokesman, whose words leads BBC.

Last week, the UK Supreme Court ruled that under equality law, a woman is defined by her biological sex.

In March 2022, while serving as Leader of the Opposition, Starmer said:

“Transgender women are women, and it’s not just my opinion, it’s actually the law.”

In response to the question whether the prime minister remains in the same position, his spokesman replied:

“No, the decision of the Supreme Court made it clear that from the point of view of the law on equality, a woman is a biological woman. This is clearly stated in the court’s decision.”

When asked whether the prime minister would use the pronouns chosen by transgender women, the spokesman declined to comment on “hypothetical speculation” but stressed that the prime minister had made it clear that trans women should be treated with the same dignity and respect as anyone else.

It will be recalled that on January 21, 2025, US President Donald Trump canceled the rule that allowed transgender people to serve in the army. He also declared that the government would recognize only two genders, male and female, and canceled diversity and inclusion programs in all federal agencies.
