OpenAI wants to buy Chrome browser

Amid a lawsuit over allegations of monopolistic practices by Google, there has been speculation that the tech giant may be forced to abandon one of its flagship products, the Chrome browser. In response to these events, OpenAI officially announced its interest in acquiring Chrome, informs Bloomberg.

Nick Turley, head of OpenAI products, confirmed that the company is considering such an option and believes that the integration of ChatGPT artificial intelligence in Chrome will open new unique opportunities for users.

He also noted that OpenAI had previously tried to work with Google to use its search technologies, but those talks ended in vain. Turley emphasized that there is no partnership between the companies at this time.

Analysts predict that if Chrome is put up for sale, interest in the browser from various market players will be extremely high. This is due to the fact that Chrome is the most popular browser in the world, used by billions of people.

At the same time, Google continues to insist on its right to keep the browser under its ownership, stressing that a forced separation of the company could negatively affect innovation in the industry. For its part, the US Department of Justice advocates limiting Google’s monopoly position in order to increase competition among technology corporations.
