Klitschko stated about political pressure on the work of the Kyiv City Council

Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko stated on increasing political pressure on the Kyiv city government and local self-government bodies.
“The pressure on the city government, on local self-government continues. Moreover, it is intensifying. In particular, there are ongoing attempts to block the work of the Kyiv City Council – so that it does not meet and is incapacitated. Moreover, the methods are not chosen. Some deputies are prevented from attending meetings… Others are intimidated with trumped-up criminal cases. We see constant manipulations and lies that are spread on telegram channels controlled by the central government and in the mass media.” Klitschko said in his statement.
According to the mayor, due to the lack of a quorum, the meeting of the Kyiv City Council did not take place that day.
“And we had to make important decisions for the life support of the city. In particular, to make changes to the program of economic and social development and the budget of the capital. They concern the financing of the construction and arrangement of protective structures, preparation for the next heating season, for the new academic year. Financing the renewal and construction of transport infrastructure facilities. Including the metro to Vynogradar. Allocation of funds for the purchase of rolling stock for communal public transport. For capital repairs of branches in the capital hospitals, purchase of medical equipment”, – Klitschko wrote.
He also emphasized that attempts to weaken the city management system are taking place in an extremely difficult period for the country.
“The attempts to destroy the capital’s management system during the war look particularly cynical and disgusting. At a critical moment for the country’s future. When in fact everyone should work together and direct all their efforts towards one goal – to preserve the Ukrainian state. Free and democratic!”, – concluded the mayor.
