Libanova: Poles and Lithuanians will go to work in Ukraine

Due to the fact that more than five million citizens left Ukraine fleeing the war, there is already a shortage of personnel on the labor market. After the end of the war, when the country will need reconstruction, this issue will arise even more acutely. However, the crisis can be avoided if decent working conditions are offered, says Ella Libanova, head of the Institute of Demography and Social Research named after Mykhailo Ptukha.
In her opinion, attractive working conditions and wages in Ukraine will contribute to the return of a significant part of our fellow citizens. In addition, Ms. Ella claims that the improvement in the labor market may also attract the attention of European migrant workers.
“If we can’t provide ourselves with labor force (and we won’t be able to), then we will have to invite someone from other countries. Most likely, it will be people from less developed countries. This is usually what happens. But if there are interesting people in Ukraine for young starting conditions, then Poles and people from the Baltic countries can come to work here, they can also come from Central Europe, Western Europe – it is absolutely possible.” – said Ella Libanova during the “Ukraine – Poland” forum, which took place in Lviv the other day.
