Long-distance fighters who abandon cars abroad, avoiding mobilization, want to be equated with kidnappers (video)

The Association of International Truck Carriers of Ukraine plans to strengthen the responsibility of drivers who evade mobilization by leaving company trucks abroad. Viktor Balin, Vice President of ASMAP stated that such actions will be treated as carjacking and information about the getaway drivers will be passed on to Interpol.

The growing number of cases when drivers, having used the “Shlyah” system, refuse to return to Ukraine, creates serious problems for international carriers. Companies are forced to find new drivers to return the vans, and also face blockages in the system, which makes further work difficult.

We will develop together with lawyers and prove to drivers that they will not only have problems with the police, but will also be treated as car thieves“, Viktor Balin emphasized.

Consequences for hit-and-run drivers:

  • Criminal responsibility for vehicle theft.
  • Transfer of information to Interpol, which will make it difficult to find a job abroad.
  • Deterioration of reputation and loss of trust from employers.
  • AsMAP calls on drivers to be responsible and aware of the importance of their work for the country in wartime conditions.
