Lubinets made a tough statement about the mobilization of 18-year-olds

Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights expressed a negative position regarding a possible lowering of the mobilization age to 18 years. In his opinion, such a step could have serious consequences for the future of the country.
“I have a negative attitude towards lowering the mobilization age to 18. If we also take away these young men who have no families and no children, we will automatically have no future in Ukraine. In my opinion, we still have a large enough number of middle-aged men – from 30 to 45 years old. This is the most effective category of Ukrainian citizens who can fight and probably should fight”, – emphasized the ombudsman.
He emphasized that the focus of mobilization activities should be left on this age group, as it has the optimal balance between physical endurance, experience and responsibility. According to Lubinets, this approach will allow to ensure effective defense of the state without endangering the future of Ukrainian society.
As for complaints regarding illegal actions of representatives of TCCs and SPs, 4,000 citizens applied to the department this year. An appropriate investigation was conducted in each case.
