Macron proposes to establish a truce in Ukraine for a month

French President Emmanuel Macron proposed establishing a month-long truce in Ukraine. He stated this after the end of the summit in London, informs Le Figaro.

“A cease-fire in the air, at sea and in energy infrastructure that will last a month. We know how to measure it. You must understand that today’s front line is the equivalent of the Paris-Budapest line.”, – noted Macron.

He explained that a ceasefire must first take place, and the next step would be the deployment of peacekeeping forces on the ground to enforce it on the front lines.

“There will be no European troops on Ukrainian soil in the coming weeks. The question is how do we use this time to try to reach an affordable ceasefire, with negotiations lasting several weeks and then, once the peace is signed, the deployment of a peacekeeping contingent.” – emphasized the French president.

He also expressed his belief in the possibility of “de-escalation” between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, noting that he spoke with the American president three times in three days, and their last conversation took place already after the summit.
