Marco Rubio refused to participate in the G20 summit in South Africa

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio does not plan to attend the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Johannesburg on February 20-21. He is the reason for the refusal named policy of the South African Republic, which currently heads the organization.
“I will not go to the G20 summit in Johannesburg. South Africa is doing very bad things – expropriating private property, using the G20 to promote ‘solidarity, equality and sustainable development’. In other words: DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – diversity, equality and inclusion) and the fight against climate change.” Rubio said.
He also noted that his work is aimed at promoting America’s national interests, not spending taxpayers’ money or fostering anti-Americanism.
In 2025, the presidency of the G20 is held by the Republic of South Africa, which chose the slogan “Solidarity, equality and sustainability”. A summit of leaders of the “Group of Twenty” is planned for November in Johannesburg, after which the presidency will pass to the United States.
